The twelfth blog

I read all my classmates' blogs this weekend. Everybody did very well on their blogs. Most of them have finished twelve ones for this semester- well, Abdullah even did fourteens. Sounds cool. I noticed that some students would probably keep doing their blogs, even though the final would be finished. It's a good idea. As Scott said, blogging is a way to improve writting skill and help to think in English. Be honest, I did blog for assingment before, but I find enjoyment to do blogs this term. I think I would probably keep blogging, unless there isn't anything to mention though.
This semester passes rapidly. Well, only one week left. But we had fun before finals; for example the pizza party on just past Friday. And we gonna hold another small party in reading class this Thursday. It will be fun I think. The only terrible thing is we these students who had ever been late in Dr. Sengupta's class have to sing on the last day before exams! I wish she will forget it. I like music, but I am weak at singing though6_6.

~freezing~

Temperature is around -23'C today. I nearly froze to death going outside! Fortunately, the apartment's heat has been fixed already. I can't imagin how to fall asleep at night without heat when temperature there is -29'C outside. 6_6

In L& S class, we did English songs presentation this week. Presentations were good, and I heard great pieces of musics from classmates. I especially appriciated the one calling "Down by the Salley Gardens". Joy played the CD on Monday. It was such a graceful song, even though the lyric was a bit of sad. It was a poetry actually, which was written by Yeats (1865-1939). The verse was well written. I downloaded this song two days ago; I couldn't help loving it. It was so wonderful as if those sets of notes were coming from a fairy's mouth.

While listening to the presentations, many of us learnt metaphorical meanings that songs had. We also discussed questions. It was a fun activity, and which was useful- for both speaking and listening.

The first Chinese Culture Night was successful! My roomates Kelly and Paul and I had a lot of fun tonight! We played games together: puzzle games, different sorts of chesses, picking up beans with chocksticks etc. And there were prizes! After supper, we watched people singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments. They were all excellent! I liked the little girl who showed traditional dancing. It was very beautiful. Furthermore, there were two people need to be mentioned. One played Koto; another played urheen. I was amazed how they put those two instruments together and played such wonderful music!

People tonight also brought items which reprented Chineses cultures. Those obejects included handicrafts, tea set, Chinese painting, calligraphy and so forth. Kelly wrote calligraphy for Culture Night. She is so great at calligraphy!:D There is one of her calligraphy which I pasted it on my blog. Isn't it amazing? Then I drew two pictures. Different than before, it was Chinese painting this time. Usually I draw for my pleasure, but it was meaningful to do this for Chinese Culture Night. I don't mind I drew them until 2:00 last night. It worth:] However, I won't do any pictures then, at least after the final exam's over.

Senting brochures

Next weekend, we have a Chinese Culture Night and a Gospel Meeting in e-community; therefore, we went to new opened T&T market to sent brochures. We were not allowed to give brochures inside, so we have to stayed outside. It was -7'C yesterday. We were all freezed, but thanks for Lord's help, we finished the work:) We had our lunch in T&T's food court. Emmm, foods there were nice. There was only one thing which I could not accept. So many people ate lunch in food cort, but only two bathrooms were built! People spent time waiting in a line. Some gave up and went directly to Tim Hauston. However, new opened T&T is better than the old one I think. There are kinds of food I haven't seen in the old one yet. We bought many stuffs yesterday. As we came back, we saw a great deal of birds flying towards south. They were twittering and taking their trip one by one as the letter V. It looks like a scene in 'the Day after Tomorrow': numerous of birds flies aways, and looks like a blanket covering the sky. Nevertheless, the sight we saw was beautiful, and- very peaceful.

Outside the snow is still falling. Temperature changed this afternoon. When we finished Listening and Speaking class by 5 o'clock, it was really dark outside. Somebody waited in the Education building, but the snow did not seem to stop in a few seconds. Hopefully, I checked the website and brought my coat.
There isn't much homework today, but we do have stuffs to finish. There only three weeks left before we havin the final exams:( After taking a bathe, I was listening to the 'black black heart.' Sometimes people seem strange. They fear of dark, but if they're hurt, they would like to stay in the dark. Why they don't feel afraid when their hearts are broken? (I'm confused.)
On Listening and Speaking class, we finished the group presentations. My group did it yesterday. We were good I think:D and Luckily, I wasn't as nervous as before. I find without memorizing words you present, it makes you even comfortable. You have to think a good way to retell the knowleage you know, then you don't have time to care about other things. And of course, all my classmates are kind. They don't make me feel nervous actually. I love this class!:)

It's a silent night. I'm sitting beside the window reading novels. Then a strange mind comes up without omens: how the world will be as if there is a disaster likes the one shown in movie- the day after tomorrow? Would I become frightened if the disaster broke the silence of this peaceful night? I'm not sure if I can survive by myself in a horrible condition as 'the day after tomorrow' show. All these ideas come through in a flash. However, there is nothing unusual, and I am able to continue my novel which calls 'Jamaica Inn'.

It is a nice book actually- both the setting and charactors. I found some good sentences in the book; for instance, 'something was not as it had been; some sound was missing that must account for the silence;' & 'Peace is very hard to find in the nineteenth century. The silence has gone, even on the hills. I hoped to find it in the church, but its teaching is false.' As the words themselves, language is amazing I think. Sometimes words describe things as well as the pictures do. Also, i found that language is beautiful while reading sentence like this: ...I can't stop you, but keep that face, which I have kissed and shall kiss again, away from danger. This kind of descriptions is usual in novels, but it give you different feeling when you appreciate it in a different language. I'd like to recommend this book to my classmates who haven't read it yet. Enjoy it (and don't worry, I'll return the book to Ducette Library right away this week, so you guys can read it later.)

Let's Bowl

I went bowling with my friends on Sunday. It had a heavy snow on that day. We went to the northeast bowling alley around 4:30 p.m. It was cold, and the sky was dark. I was not very excited at the beginning. However, I enjoyed the time in bowling alley though. I was a little surprised that every body needed to change shoes before bowling, and the bowling balls were really heavy- much heavier than I thought. I guessed they were only a little heavier than basketballs, but actually they were 8kg, 10kg, 15kg, or even 20kg. I learnt how to bowl from Kimmy and Norman that day. Then we had two matches. I got 47 on the first one, but 69 on the second one. John, Kimmy, and Norman were great. They all got more than 130 points. Even though it was a cold cold day, we still had a enjoyble time on Sunday! Hoo~:)
